True North Chainsaw Pack

The True North Chainsaw Pack holds the saw in next to your center of gravity and prevents it from bouncing or swinging as you move over rough terrain.

Load or unload a saw in seconds: drop the power head into the carrier, attach the bar with one buckle and go.

Pack comes with three drawstring pockets for fuel, water, and other essentials; a Next Generation fire shelter case; and an axe scabbard. Modular design allows you to position pouches anywhere along the belt or back of the saw carrier.

Other features include ultra thick dual-density foam waist belt and harness, and a leather shoulder pad to protect the harness when carrying the saw on your shoulder. Accommodates wrap around handle bars as well as top and side handle bars.

I got this for my husband as he is coordinator for the local Ice Age Trail chapter and helps clear trails. We also use wood to heat our home and have 12 acres of woods. He tried it with one of the smaller chainsaws and it worked really well. Frees up your hands. You can go places the Kubota cannot.

It is exactly what is claims to...

Do you need to carry a saw into the backcountry? Do you need to have your hands available for other tasks while you are carrying a saw into the backcountry? Do you need to carry a saw into the backcountry which is heavy enough that you wouldn't want to carry is in hand or on your shoulder? If you answered yes to any of the above questions then you should probably purchase the pack. This isn't some fall apart ultralight pack. At 5lbs it also is not insanely heavy either, great pockets for extra fuel/oil, water bottle, huge pocket for a meal or two/first aid kit/fire-shelter or some combination of the previous, and a dedicated area for a felling axe / Pulaski or dedicated wedge pounder. The suspension is good. Hip belt and chest strap are beefy. My only small complaint is use of singular thick webbing into the hip-belt snap instead of top and bottom webbings through a snap one snap for a more customized fit. No regrets. I use mine primarily for backcountry trail maintenance vs. wildland fire, but honestly the miles are as easy as they can be with a heavy saw on your back using this pack.
